Appalachian Coffee Company is Closing the 5th Ave Location

Dear Friends.

 

We have some news to share. It is with sadness to inform you that our 5th Avenue coffee shop location will be closing on February 3rd, 2023.  Our lease is up in February and our landlord is going in a different direction that does not include Appalachian Coffee Company.

 

Know that we are actively looking for other options to move to a new location.  At this time, we do not have any details to share but hopefully we can in the near future.  Our online store will remain open, and we will continue to supply our many vendors throughout the area.      

  

I cannot stress enough how proud and grateful I am to the Appalachian Coffee staff.  Over the next month please join me in thanking them for their hard work, love for our customers, and desire to create an atmosphere where all are welcomed and feel at home.  These wonderful people not only helped us make it through the pandemic but enabled us to thrive once we got through it.  Our business was healthier post-COVID than ever before, and it is all because of our talented, joyful, and hardworking staff.  

 

I also am grateful for our wonderful customers. Our goal was to create a gathering place where stories were told, special moments were shared, and friendships grew over a great cup of coffee.  I think we did that together.  Thank you.  This coffee shop was a dream come true.

 

So….what now?

 

We hope to find a new home for Appalachian Coffee and we are actively searching and looking for new spaces.  We hope to be able to announce to the public in the near future what our options are.  But for now, this chapter in Appalachian Coffee is ending and we have faith that a new and wonderful home awaits.  I look forward to what God has in store for us and the rest of the Appalachian Coffee family.

Appalachian Coffee Co. is so much more than a coffee shop

Did you know these two lovely ladies, Mara (left) and Emily (right), were a part of our original staff at Appalachian Coffee Co?

We first met Mara and Emily as camp counselors at Camp Kanuga while David served as Camp Director. Years later Mara & Emily became baristas at both of our drive-thru locations. We were so lucky to have them. We know our customers loved their smilies, enthusiasm and joyful spirits (am I right)?!

They are now happy customers and regulars at the coffee shop. Both ladies agreed to model our new t-shirts, and we had a fun time sharing memories together with our talented photographer @corrineelainephotography

Hands down, the best stories shared were how both Mara and Emily met their loved ones at our coffee shop! Stay tuned, because we will share more about their sweet love stories later.❤️ #appalachiancoffeecompany

Appalachian Coffee Co. Supports Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers

We are proud to support both Christina and Katie who are individually attempting to hike the entire Appalachian Trail this year.

The Appalachian Trail runs over 2000 miles from Georgia to Maine. Did you know its the longest hiking-only footpath? Check out this interactive map of the AT.

We were happy to send both Christina and Katie off with some Appalachian Coffee and other merch to enjoy on the trail.

Meet Christina! She is our friend from Hendersonville, NC and is thru-hiking the #appalachiantrail ⛰🥾. If you are local to Hendersonville you might recognize her from the YMCA. She has inspired so many of us to get active and in shape! Christina and her husband Will are regulars at our coffee shop. ❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Meet Katie (aka: Sunrise on the AT)!!

We first met Katie when she worked as a camp counselor at Camp Kanuga a few years ago when David (owner of Appalachian Coffee Co.) served as Camp Director. Sunrise is flip-flopping the trail and is moving entirely at her own pace. She shares “I can make a cup of coffee (or two) and there’s no pressure to ‘make’ miles.” We will share her journey with y’all on our Instagram stories now and then (her daily reels are fantastic🙌)!⠀⠀

Sunrise got her name from “signing shelter logs as Sunrise.” She said her dad had been “calling her this for awhile because, (she) is not a morning person.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
